Yeah. I thought that, since I'd fixed the segfault and the expression tree worked for other expressions, the problem didn't lie in the wrapper. But I began to doubt that judgement, so I wrote a C++ test program[1] to do the equivalent construction manually. And that worked.. So the mystery deepens; I shall return to it tomorrow..
