>From README:

==========================================================
This is a pretest of the upcoming release (3.0) of urwvn fonts.

urwvn is the vietnamese version of the standard PostScript fonts from
URW++

At the moment there is only family that has been retouched:
VnNimbusRomNo9L (Times Roman). Other fonts are being improved.

The most important change compared to the previous release is that
uppercase letters now have different accents: they are wider and lower
than the accents of lowercase letters. Hinting for accents have been
also improved.

Files in f.zip:

,--------
| README -- this file
| utmb8v.ttf,
| utmbi8v.ttf,
| utmr8v.ttf,
| utmri8v.ttf: -- truetype fonts
`--------

Installation:

- unpack f.zip and copy the *.ttf files to ~/.fonts
- run fc-cache

The fonts should then be available to applications under name
'Vn Nimbus Roman No9 L'

The type1 version looks quite poor on X11, probably because of the
quality of type1 rendering in X11. On windows2000 it looks much better,
probably thanks to the adobe type1 rendering engine, which is still the
best one. I have decided not to include the type version in the pretest
release.

The truetype version of the font has been generated by fontforge and has no
hints at all. Hence it looks poor on windows, while it looks surprisingly
good in X11 thanks to freetype.

The font has been tested on:
- linux (debian sarge i386) with: firefox, openoffice, gedit
- windows 2000 with: internet explorer, wordpad

A (technical) note on hinting of the font:
The type1 version has quite reasonable hints: all original hints from urw
fonts are kept, all vietnamese accents have been hinted manually using
fontlab. Due to the limitation of the tool being used to compose accented
characters (FMP from Y&Y), accents cannot have hints that are overlapping.
Hence hinting for some accents are sub-optimal (especially true for tilde)
