A Linux install party is an informal event where people can get free support and help to install any Linux distributions on their own computer. The help and guidance is provided by volunteers who have their own experience within specific Linux distrbutions. Một Linux Install party (LIP) là một buổi làm việc dành cho các bạn muốn được trợ giúp trong việc cài đặt một bản phân phối Linux trên máy tính của mình. How can I join a LIP ? - Cần chuẩn bị như thế nào để tham gia một LIP ? 1. You need to bring your computer (only the central unit, as you may borrow a screen, keyboard and mouse on spot) 2. You need to backup all the important data on the hard disk you intend to use for the Linux installation 3. You need to prepare that hard disk (as it could take some time) in order to reserve at least 2 GB (preferably more, like 5 GB) of free contiguous space. For that, if you do not have a free partition of 2-5 GB size, you may need to defragment the hard disk, or one of its partition, to obtain that free contiguous space Attention : Before coming to a LIP you should be aware of the risks of data loss that could result from the Linux installation process on your computer and accept them. * If you are looking for a specific Linux distribution to install, you may need to contact the organizational board of the LIP to check if they have the expertise and the installations CDs or not. 1.
