'A Funchalence' comes from a MS belonging to 'Mrs Christopher'. It is perhaps a little dance and perhaps in honour of Funchal, Madeira's capital.

Sometimes the machete was accompanied by another machete or 'viola francesa' (guitar) and the accompaniment part is typically very basic indeed. I've added a simple guitar part and the machete part is played only with the thumb.
