Thank you very much for taking the time to rework this patch.
Initially I had planned to include it, *however* on second thoughts the usage
supported by this patch is a bit of a specific workflow; and I don't want to
burden the maintenance of Viking or make too many complicated user options...
Hence for now, I'm not going to put this in 1.3 (although I plan to put my own
github area and maintain it there) - thus if/when I change my mind again(!) -
or it gets some support - then it is more likely to be in a state to go in.
Of course Eric, since he's presumably using this himself, may keep his patch
up-to-date himself - then it would be really good if this was done on an
accessible git repository somewhere.
