> Are these points all in a single track or multiple tracks? single track with multiple track segments.
> Do these trackpoints have extended info VDOP, HDOP, PDOP etc.... No, "unfortunately" not, these are garmin gpx map 60csx track logs. I uploades such a file here : http://gps.muellers.ms/pub/test.gpx.bz2 > What is the spec of your machine again, especially CPU & RAM? Old hardware, IBM Thinkpad T43, 2GB RAM, Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.86GHz single core. Perhaps it's just my Hardware thats to weak. > Do you have an NFS home partition, or some other less common setup? No, just my 2.5 IDE drive. > TRW Layer -> Filter -> Simplify All Tracks... Thanks for the hint. > Of course if Viking feels too slow to begin with it's not so useful for you! No problem, I am still very happy with viking. Probably the code could be change to not display 30.000 points but just do "simplify" them on the fly while displaying. E.g. if I am az zoomlevel "32 pixelfact" it's impossible to distinguish between these 30.000 track points anyhow,so I think they could be merged to 3000 or less for display without noticing any difference. But now that I did some test, I think it got better with the skip-same patch, now viking is still usable, slow but still usable and does not crash. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Try before you buy = See our experts in action!
