Hi,
Playing with fossology[1], I realized that viking has some licensing issues.
The most important is the official license of viking: COPYING file
reference GPLv2 while most source code refers to GPLv2+ (v2 or later). I
think we have to change the COPYING file to GPLv2+.
I also note some GPLv3+ mainly made by me. GPLv3 is not compatible[2] with
GPLv2. I think I will be able to relicense these files under GPLv2+ terms.
There are some files under GPL license related to installer. I think it is
a double error:
- first, the file has no license by itself
- second, the identified license is taken from a translation message, but
there is a typo in this message as it reference GPL and not GPLv2 (or
GPLv2+).
Finally, there are some files without license. Most of them are tests. I
think it is better to add a license header: this will reduce the number of
issues when auditing code and can help people to reuse code in test (while
I think these codes are not really interesting, but who know).
Happy licensing! ;-)
