I'm having an issue with the viking application window graying out and
spinning when I try to load a .gpx file for display. It never recovers
and I have to kill the process. Can you give me any help in debugging this?

viking: 1.5 compiled from source
OS: Ubutnu 13.10, 64 bit

When run viking from the command line, there isn't any interesting
warning message displayed.

If I run viking under gdb, then kill it to get the back trace to
possibly see where it is hung, I get this:

Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.
