I have no plans to remove it. However since I don't use it, I'm not going to give it any guarantee of support. i.e. I'm not even sure when the last time (or indeed if ever) I compiled viking with '--enable-dem24k', other than just moments ago. It at least currently compiles. But without an automated test suite to build some of the various compilation options - there is always a chance they may be inadvertently broken.
