I'm not a developer, so my opinion means nothing, but I don't think
the idea of a central repository helps anything. The important part of
the meal is the chef, not the ingredients.

Exactly, if it doesn't fit into the chef's ideal for Vim, it is only
an unnecessary complication for everyone else.
