Another idea would be to add the category "No category" to all the tips which are in category "VimTip" and not in any other category, except the ones due to templates (like "Review, "Delete", etc...). It would allow to have all the tips accessible from the Category tree, and more importantly to list which tips don't have a real category yet. It would also be useful for your statistics, since the progress is the number of tips in "No category" by the number of tips in "VimTip".
