Why don't we just abandon the {{{text}}} parameter of Template:Tip?
Is there any point to having the body of the tip as a parameter?
Having some ill-defined rule about what characters you can use in a tip body
makes tips very fragile. We can't use | or [[ or ]] (I think), but maybe
other stuff causes problems too (like {{{id}}}).
A bot to change {{{text}}} should be achievable.
BTW I think it's {{!}} for bar, not {{|}}.
