(I may be not the best person to have an opinion on this issue as my only vimtip is nothing but a link to a bash script I'm maintaining on my personal web site [1]) This tip seem indeed a little bit exagerated as there is only a link to the web site, and furthermore the tip in itself is not that complex nor long. I think the best thing would be to have the tip hosted on vim.wikia. However, there may be copyright issues. Is the author ready to put his tip under the GNU FDL license ? It seems to me the first thing that can be done is to contact the author of the tip and see with him.
