Ah! Thanks for that - it looks like you saved *me* a lot of time.

That's a shame, it looks like the suite is not really ready for 
Windows' use - unless one is prepared to turn it into a pseudo-'nix box 
with Cygwin. This simply isn't viable here, though.

I'd move to my Linux box, but Vim 7 is not available on Ubuntu, which is 
what I'm using for the laptops and desktops. (The backport has also been 
rejected.)

I guess that I'll just have to stick with WinEdt on Windows for writing, 
since I use \label and \ref constantly.
