I was looking for some way to refer to the particular version I had
installed and discovered this file,
vimfiles/ftplugin/latex-suite/version.vim
which contains this:
" Tex_Version: returns a string which gives the current version number of
latex-suite
...

return "Latex-Suite: version 1.8.23"
endfunction
