Thanks a lot for your answer. I finally remapped it as <C-i> which seems 
that doesn't interfere with anything for me.

If I have understood it correctly, this Vim's behaviour will likely not 
be changed in the future. But maybe it would be a nice idea to add such 
an explanation into help for latex-suite - I haven't seen it there, 
although "remapping-latex-suite-keys" says how to remap these keys.

Anyway, I am most grateful for you help.
