If my memory doesn't fail me, this is issue is actually due to vim's error parser and not (directly) to vim-latex. Basically, to properly fix this you can sanitize LaTeX's error messages before passing them to vim. Here [1] you can find some ideas on that line (the "rubber" link is dead, you can find it here [2]). Please note that I didn't have a chance to try out this setup, yet.
