I can't figure out how to turn off or customize the tabline

The items in the tabline menu are hard-coded in the Vim source
code. You cannot add or remove items from this menu without
modifying the source.
It would be nice to be able to turn it off if it can't be
customized.
I don't understand. It can be completely customized via the
'tabline' option.

I'm just talking about the menu, I love the tabline. :)

Which tabline menu? The menus I see in gvim are:

File Edit Tools Syntax Buffers Window Help

plus the ToolBar menu, and the PopUp menu which is invisible except when right-clicking

Or do you mind the context menu which opens when right-clicking the GUI-style tabline? I don't get it on the "text" tabline (e.g., in gvim without the e flag in 'guioptions').

Best regards,
Tony.
