Is it possible to achieve this effect under X? I keep forgetting to prefix commands with "+, which is awkward to type. I'd prefer not to remap a ton of commands.

On Windows, I've long been used to having clipboard=unnamed, which
ensures that all deletes, yanks, and puts go to or come from the
clipboard by default.
