I have looked at Pida, but I decided to wait for it to mature some
more. One annoying thing is that the toolbar has so big icons that one
don't get those that are of interest like execute etc... Also Pida
doesn't catch error messages out-of-the-box. So I decided that if it
was to spend time setting up an environment in Vim or read the Pida
docs and mess about to get it to work, I'd rather go for a Vim only
environment. Besides I need the same setup for Linux and Windows (ugg!).

But I hope that the Pida project continues! It looks a bit dead at the
moment though...
