or, in Normal mode, hitting the Ctrl-^ key. If your keyboard is not US
QWERTY, it may not have a Ctrl-^ key, or maybe not where you expect it.
IN that case, you can use some mapping like the following:
:noremap <F7> <C-^>
:inoremap <F7> <C-O><C-^>
