Hello, Post from comp.editors:
------------------------------------------------------------------ From: "Sascha T." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Newsgroups: comp.editors Subject: Re: The vim and emacs wars Date: 3 Sep 2006 16:21:41 -0700 I've been using Emacs eversince - for something like ten years, I guess. Really, I am extraordinary fast, I know every keystroke I need, even when asleep... Still, I've decided to switch to vim last week. Why? Well, because I have to be flexible. I am using Linux, Windows and MacOs to log into Linux/Aix/Whatever-Systems. And it is one thing to know every keystroke... but another thing to realize, that the META-key will not work, e.g. from OsX logging into Linux; or setting up a system that lacks of Emacs. Vi(m), luckily, lacks of the META-Key usage ;-) Really, the only powerfull, full-featured, highly customizable editor available on *every* system I've ever worked on is vi(m). And, most important to me, its user-interface is completely indifferent to the operating-system I use. That's why I decided to kiss Emacs good-bye...
