I think there's a major disadvantage in using the code.google.com wiki - it only allows people who have been added to the project to edit the wiki via the web interface (please correct me if I'm wrong). At least if it allows editing by anyone with a google id, that would be reasonable enough for anyone to contribute and it'll avoid spam, but if only people added to the project can edit the wiki, it'll become a bottleneck and will discourage anyone who wants to contribute, I don't think many people will go through that much trouble (at least going by the number of 'anonymous' tip notes).
