Maybe, but that's beside the point.

I realize that this would require some extra processing, as :catch
takes an arbitrarily delimited pattern to match against, but I
wouldn't think you'd be breaking backwards compatibility if one was to
exclude alphabetical characters (and undeline) from the list of such
delimiters, that is, anything that can start a variable name.
