This is 7.1.000 (i.e. no "patches included"). You might want to try a later 
version: as of this writing, the "latest" patchlevel is 7.1.145. See 
http://ftp.vim.org/pub/vim/patches/7.1/README for a one-line description of 
every 7.1 bug fix to date, and 
http://users.skynet.be/antoine.mechelynck/vim/compunix.htm for a tutorial 
about compiling Vim on Unix-like systems.
