I've been using (a modified version of) VimTAP:
http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=2213

I had found Staale Flock's script during my investigations, but some strange
implementation choices ("if !exists('g:false')|let g:FALSE = (1 != 1)|endif",
huh?) and the fact that it's not been updated since 2004 let me question its
usefulness. (Taking a second look, it's probably all right, but probably not
under development any more.)

Which takes us back to the original topic of this thread: There are many
different plugins in various states (mostly of disarray), and it's hard for
users to judge the applicability and how well it is being maintained.
