I remember that when the Vim lists moved from fu-berlin.de to Google, my 
@skynet.be mail server dropped some list mail on the floor without 
warning ("spam filtering", apparently); so I moved my list subscriptions 
to Gmail, with the following advantages:
- it's less likely that gmail will filter Google Groups as "spam";
- even if it does (it happens now and then for individual messages), I 
can access (by webmail) what got "detected" by their spam filters, and 
move any false positives back to the Inbox, where my mail client will 
get them the next time it polls pop.gmail.com:995
