i just installed mercurial, performed an hg clone to get bram's
new repo and see what if any problems i might encounter, and it
seems something at the configure level has changed

i was able, prior to today, to modify my environment (bash,
linux) by sourcing a module containing lines such as

export CONF_OPT_GUI=GTK2
export CONF_OPT_FEAT='--with-features=big'
export CONF_OPT_COMPBY='"--with-compiledby=tooth...@home"'

i have verified those variables are defined in the shell in which
i ran configure and make, but configure did not detect them or
honor them -- with the exception of using GTK2 which it figured
out on its own

do these now have to be specified on the commandline? or maybe
i've suffered yet another brain flatulation and overlooked some
necessary and obvious step?
