I recently got an Android phone and was surprised at the lack of good text editors. Of course, I thought first of my favorite text editor, VIM.
I wanted to know if anyone has tried to compile VIM for the Android OS, and what types of problems I might expect. I have tried doing searches with no relief. As far as I can see, no one has created an Android-OS binary for VIM. I have seen isolated mentions of vi on people's Android phones, but I believe that it is by people who use a terminal session to access vi on a remote Unix computer. If this is the wrong forum for this type of question, please excuse me. I did not know where else to turn. I would appreciate any helpful advice. If no one has done this yet, I would like to explore using a cross-compiler to create a vim binary for Android OS. I love my Android phone, but I wish I had a real text editor for it. -- You received this message from the "vim_dev" maillist. For more information, visit http://www.vim.org/maillist.php
