Trying out 'conceal' using hg rev 2282:69064995302a -- full --version
info below. I wanted to see whether it could provide a solution for the
'Indentation Vertical Lines' problem on vim-use, but I noticed a couple
quirks.
First thing I tried was:
:syntax match Emms "m" conceal cchar=%
In the following text:
"""
Testing this conceal thing. What about ems?
What madness is this?
It only matches initial ems?
"""
I had previously searched for 'conceal', and I use 'hlsearch'. The
search highlight on the first line apparently prevented the match on the
'm' in 'ems' (hence my text typed in confusion).
Second thing I tried was:
:syntax match Initial /^ / conceal cchar=^I
(Pattern is '/^' + 3 spaces + '/', and ^I == ^V <Tab> [literal tab])
Then text with leading spaces shows very odd refresh characteristics,
and just generally doesn't display right. (Gets pushed to the left and
overwritten with whitespace, but pressing ^L refreshes it, only to lose
it again when scrolling.)
Try with test text:
"""
blah
blah
blah
blaaaah
"""
Last line is particularly weirdly rendered.
