Hi, The philosophy behind the langmap setting is to be able edit your keyboard layout for everything but actually inserting text. Or as the help page says: "This means you don't have to change the keyboard mode to be able to execute Normal mode commands." I really like this idea but I think that the current implementation is incomplete. In my opinion it should be extended to support modifier keys.
For instance, if I ":set langmap=rw" and then press <C-r> the expected behavior would be the equivalent of pressing <C-w>. This should also apply to insert mode so that <C-[>, <C-X>, <C-R> etc in insert mode are easily available for everyone. I think this would make many .vimrc files out there a lot cleaner.
