There is already a fix that works, I can go ahead and do whatever is needed
to push the change.

I am not 100% sure that the maintainer has dropped out though. He hasn't
answered
any emails but not sure where to draw the line of "he is no longer
maintaining it".

What is the proper way to get a change pushed into this bundled plugin?
