I can't reproduce this bug.  I'm using Vim-7.3.280 on Linux x86.

I did  ":set cursorline" before all above steps.

About step 5 and 6, I think you also need to press <Esc>
to get out of insert mode, after inserting foo.  In other words,
with cursor on ">", press    ifoo<Esc>jjj<Enter>

Correct?

Unrelated: while in insert mode, if I press <Bs> then  <Del>
I see an error in the plugin:
