It would appear so, IIUC: the script highlights correctly for me if I
- name it with a .bash extension
- have a bash shebang, say "#!/bin/bash" or "#!/bin/env bash"
- :let is_bash = 1 before editing it
See :help sh.vim. Here strings are a bashism.
