Yes, I do see that in GTK. (For reference, I'm using DejaVu Sans Mono
size 10 and it's easiest to see the vertical lines using the 'M'
character because it takes up the full width of the cell.) Obviously I
was wrong about all the rendering being done in 'screen_line()'. I'll
look into it.
