it has been modified), both give me
**error** (netrw) ?Invalid command.
in red (possibly Error or ErrorMsg highlight) followed on the next

"/tmp/vHg0s9d/3" [readonly] 231L, 14146C
(or similar) in Normal highlight. The file is read into the window as
if no eror had happened AFAICT. I'll try to give a little more
debugging info than my usual. I don't know when it started happening
but no later than 7.4.199. It still happens (as seen below) in
7.4.205. The above is from gvim (i.e. with GUI running), I've also
tried to invoke "view ftp://ftp.vim.org/pub/vim/patches/7.4/README"
(without the quotes) in bash in both a konsole terminal and the no-X11
Linux console, and I get the same message.
Hello, Tony:
I didn't see any problem using your command above with v151h, which I've
just put on my website
(http://www.drchip.org/astronaut/vim/index.html#NETRW). If the problem
persists, would you please send me the output of
fgrep netrw .vimrc
(that way I can get an easy-to-use set of netrw variables that you
set). Also, please see :help netrw-debug .
Thank you for your report!
Chip Campbell
P.S. I'm still looking at the problem you reported with netrw and gzip.
I suspect its a problem with gzip.vim; more specifically, that netrw and
gzip both use temporary files.
