OK, I see that it's documented at :help 'paste'. But...WHY? I understand
most of the options that are reset or disabled in paste mode, because they
affect the inserting of text. But why 'ruler' and 'showmatch'? I
guess 'showmatch' can cause a paste to take longer as the cursor can move
around unnecessarily; but that's a stretch, and 'ruler' has no
justification at all that I can think of. Especially since 'statusline'
continues to function just fine.
