I think it's too radically different. A logo should change incrementally so 
that it is still recognizable as the same product, with maybe a refreshed look. 
This is a complete redesign that looks nothing at all like the original. If I 
saw that icon somewhere I would never think for a moment it would launch Vim 
when clicking it.
