Hello vim-dev, I am Lee from El Granada, California.
Thank you for a great program I have used since the days of Redhat in a
box.
I have two very plain computers running Ubuntu 14.4 and 12.something.
I get my vim editor by the usual sudo apt-get command and I have been
using vim to encrypt a password file. The :X encryption and decryption
activity has been working fine for 13 or 14 years. I still use the older
insecure encryption method.
The vim version 7.4.52 supplied with a fairly late version of Ubuntu
14.4 fails to decrypt a file created by vim 7.3.429 which is the vim
version that I have on my older Ubuntu (I think 12) computer.
I attach a demonstration file encrypted with the key dogbiscuit.
This file decrypts with the older .429 vim and the later vim does not
recognize the encryption header text.
I will follow this list and listen for the fix or workaround.
Cordially yours, Lee McKusick
