Type Geiger-M\"uller
Try to add to the spell check dictionary, the last few letters will still
show as incorrect spelling.
Now type Geiger-M\"{u}ller
Again try to add it to the spell check dictionary, this time it will work.
But not only does it work - but the first example will now show as correct
when running spell check.
