Ok. You may very well be right, but I know I've had trouble updating
shallow clones without that extra flag. In short, such repos often end up
in "broken merge" state, in my experience after trying to update. It's
possible that I was doing something *else* wrong, but I can't really think
of what. As I recall, I only ran "git pull".
