I think we need to split this up in pieces anyway, otherwise the patch is too big to review. I don't think there is a reason to remove __ARGS at the same time we update the functions themselves. And updating the functions is a bit more tricky (e.g. adding (void) when there are no arguments), might want to do that one file at a time.
