Hm, you said gtk2-devel is installed. What is the answer to

        rpm -q gtk2-devel

typed at the shell (bash etc.) command line? With me it says

gtk2-devel-2.24.30-8.3.x86_64

which is indeed "greater than or equal to 2.2.0"; and configure says
(in the lines corresponding to what you showed)

checking --enable-gui argument... yes/auto - automatic GUI support
checking whether or not to look for GTK+ 2... yes
checking whether or not to look for GNOME... yes
checking whether or not to look for Motif... yes
checking whether or not to look for Athena... yes
checking whether or not to look for neXtaw... yes
checking whether or not to look for Carbon... yes
checking --disable-gtktest argument... gtk test enabled
checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for GTK - version >= 2.2.0... yes; found version 2.24.30

Oh, and BTW, what is your version and patchlevel of the Vim source? I
have 7.4.1941.

Best regards,
Tony.
