Could it be, that this happens because of the newly introduced test (and 
is independent of the actual fix included with the patch)? Can you run 
only the test under ASAN?

That would be a good idea. Running one build with  -fsanitize=address 
and one with  -fsanitize=undefined? Might make travis slower however.
