The latest syntax/tex.vim is available at my website: http://www.drchip.org/astronaut/vim/index.html#SYNTAX_TEX, v103. The \langle and \rangle glyphs are double-wide, which can cause problems with many fonts. I've chosen to use < and > instead by default; however, if one uses set ambw or has "let g:tex_usedblwidth= 1" in one's .vimrc, then the double-width 〈〉glyphs will be used instead.
