Hello!

I am having an issue since tag v8.0.0973 (found using git bisect) where my ". 
register is pasted when I open a new instance of vim in xterm (not reproduced 
with gvim). This is reproduced with the following command:

$ src/vim src/INSTALL --noplugin --startuptime time

with my $HOME/.vimrc:
set <A-s-p>=^[P
            ^^
            this is 0x1B

Somehow, it is not reproduced with '-u ~/.vimrc' because viminfo file is not 
read (even with -i ~/.viminfo).

If any additional information is required, please let me know. Here is what I 
could think of gathering:
