But how, if both diff programs return exactly the same output?

I did a couple of tests with my Windows system and 
https://github.com/vim/vim-win32-installer/releases/tag/v8.1.0369 (both 
64bit and 32bit versions). This still uses the external diff, since 
8.1.370 was not included. And whether it uses the diff from the 
distributed diff or the external diff from the git-bash distribution. It 
works as expected.
