With the current code, you cannot have both the search stats ([1/5] count) and the BOTTOM/TOP message enabled at the same time. I looked into fixing that, but the main problem was that the text in the command line is in a global buffer that has one highlight setting. The entire line can have normal highlighting or it can have the WarningMsg highlighting of the BOTTOM/TOP message but it can't have separating highlighting for the message and the count. That could be changed, but I'd being coming up with an ad hoc solution that might not be in keeping with the rest of Vim, so I decided to leave it be.
