A lot.  Every user will have their own preferences, I myself tend to use
the scrollwheel and do Visual selection with the mouse.  Doing that with
the keyboard takes much more time.

I don't see it that way.  Good UX practice learns that if some users
accidentally press the wrong key, instead of making that key do nothing
or put up an annoying dialog, there should be a way to revert the
action.  I do not see a relation with a not working mouse.

Making the mouse work in a text editor is certainly a UX improvement.

What do you mean?  I thought we were talking about using the mouse.  And
the mouse is often used for pasting (typing "+p also works though).  Can
you be specific about what you are referring to?

CTRL-R +.  That's not obvious though, using the middle mouse button is.
Unless the user comes from MS-Windows, then CTRL-V would do it, but you
need to configure Vim for that.
