I've been looking into that.  So far, it appears that with Wayland,
the number-of-columns and number-of-rows calculations is possibly
wrong at lines 1590-1591 in gui_resize_shell() in gui.c.  At least
that's where gui.num_cols is being changed from the 80 it should be
to 79.

I'll switch from Wayland to X11 shortly after writing this and
compare the values in those calculations between the two servers.
